Why has my price increased so much when the oil is already in the UK?

Heating oil is usually priced on replacement cost, what it would cost suppliers to replace it today, not what they originally paid. When markets move quickly, suppliers often need to adjust prices to reflect:

• Even higher expected cost of replenishing oil stock in the future
• Market uncertainty, including wholesalers pausing or limiting supply
• Local supply pressures, which can affect some regions more than others

Even if oil is stored in the UK, its price reflects current market conditions and replacement cost.

Why doesn’t heating oil move in line with crude oil or petrol prices?

Heating oil prices do not always rise or fall at the same rate as petrol, diesel, or crude oil. The delivered price of heating oil includes several additional factors, such as:

• Local availability of kerosene (a smaller and more regional market)
• Terminal, storage, and operational costs
• Haulage and delivery logistics

Why can’t I get a quote in my postcode?

When you request a quote, you see prices from suppliers currently available to deliver to your postcode.

During periods of market volatility, suppliers may pause quoting in some areas, reduce delivery slots, prioritise existing orders, or adjust delivery regions.

This can mean no prices appear for a postcode, even though deliveries are still happening elsewhere.

Prices are changing quickly, a postcode with no prices offered, can change day-to-day, even hour-to-hour, so it's worth checking back in regularly.

Can I order less than 500 litres?

Many suppliers set minimum orders (often around 500 litres) because deliveries are planned using compartmented tankers and set routes.

Smaller deliveries can be harder to accommodate, especially during busy periods. Depending on your area, smaller orders may sometimes be available through a quote. If this option isn’t available you may want to consider a Kerosene Fuel Box.
