With everything that's going on in the Middle East at the moment, we've had lots of feedback and queries from customers asking about what's happening with price, to worries about running out.
So yesterday, we opened the floor to you to ask us anything about the ongoing situation.
To help you navigate these concerns, we’ve shared an update on what we’re seeing in the heating oil market, answered the most common questions, and included some practical steps you can take right now.
Several factors are affecting heating oil supply and pricing across the UK:
Heating oil is usually priced on replacement cost, what it would cost suppliers to replace it today, not what they originally paid. When markets move quickly, suppliers often need to adjust prices to reflect:
Even if oil is stored in the UK, its price reflects current market conditions and replacement cost.
Heating oil prices do not always rise or fall at the same rate as petrol, diesel, or crude oil. The delivered price of heating oil includes several additional factors, such as:
Because the heating oil market is more localised and less standardised than petrol, prices can move faster or appear more volatile
When you request a quote, you see prices from suppliers currently available to deliver to your postcode.
During periods of market volatility, suppliers may pause quoting in some areas, reduce delivery slots, prioritise existing orders, or adjust delivery regions.
This can mean no prices appear for a postcode, even though deliveries are still happening elsewhere.
Prices are changing quickly, a postcode with no prices offered, can change day-to-day, even hour-to-hour, so it's worth checking back in regularly.
Many suppliers set minimum orders (often around 500 litres) because deliveries are planned using compartmented tankers and set routes.
Smaller deliveries can be harder to accommodate, especially during busy periods. Depending on your area, smaller orders may sometimes be available through a quote. If this option isn’t available you may want to consider a Kerosene Fuel Box.
We cannot responsibly predict exact prices, especially during fast-moving global events. However, a sensible general approach is:
BoilerJuice connects customers with local heating oil suppliers.
While we don’t own the oil or set prices, we work to show the best available options in your area, provide clear pricing and delivery information, and help customers find the fastest available delivery.
We also monitor market conditions and share updates when things change to help you make informed decisions about heating your home.
You can check prices and delivery times anytime with a quote using your postcode, though availability can change throughout the day.
If you’re low on oil, a Kerosene Fuel Box may help bridge the gap until delivery.
